It’s difficult to take our minds off Ukraine and the Russian aggression right now . It’s a situation that will affect all of us around the world even though it’s a minority of the world’s population that will actually be involved in the day-to-day horror of war. Nevertheless, all of us will be impacted, whether it’s by higher energy prices, particularly at the gas pump which affects Americans so completely us we are such a car-driven society or one’s basic income due to reactions in the world’s economies.
In spite of this, I am asking you to take a few moments to remember the crisis and fight for democracy that our own country is in, particularly when it comes to voting rights, the core of our functioning Democratic Republic.
Here is one small action you can take sponsored by BLACK VOTERS MATTER, but impacting ALL voters. Remember it is not just the black voter that is impacted by restricted voting rights. I, for one, as an older person, rely on Colorado’s excellent vote by mail system. Not just the elderly are impacted by restricted voting rights, but those with disabilities, with jobs that are difficult to get time off to actually go and vote in places where that is required and one cannot vote early easily, and those in rural areas without adequate transportation, for example.
