Tardiness and Become Ocean

I have been terribly remiss in entering blogs. This is about travel, and I do have much to say about that and places for us to wander to. In the summer I took a hiatus to be outdoors but also a trip to Barcelona and southern France. Then I got busy this fall after one entry here in September. I discovered I can’t do everything at once any more, not that I ever could. But I thought I could—like the little engine from childhood. I have a public Facebook page, which is a continuation of my rediscovery of the world, you might say. Check that out for different  topics, often about contemporary events and issues I wrote about in Voice of a Voyage: Rediscovering the World During a Ten-year Circumnavigation:

become ocean

Although we explored on land every country we visited during our circumnavigation, much of our time was spent on the ocean. I wrote about that in several different contexts. Not long ago I was introduced to Become Ocean by John Luther Adams, his 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winning composition. It is marvelous and perfectly captures through orchestration the feeling and power of the oceans of our planet. I highly recommend it. As soon as I heard it, I bought it. It comes with a video that plays with the music. Enchanting, mesmerizing, powerful, as the ocean can be. More on oceans in a later blog.

Here’s a link to a YouTube version of Become Ocean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGva1NVWRXk

My next blog is entitled “The Road to Insanity.”  Come back soon for that!
