Explore where poetry’s words can take you! Poetry provides two views at once: the facts or story and a deeper understanding of ourselves, our world, universal truths. Take Robert Frost’s well known two roads in “The Road Not Taken.” There is the story of a decision made about which way to go, “the road less traveled.” There is also the contemplation it sets up in us, the readers, about our own decisions, paths in life we chose or passed by. Poetry uses language and rhythm and words to help us to see and to be in this world.
In this section I’ll include notes about reading, understanding, and writing poetry, as well as some of my poems and those of others that I have permission to use.
